Announcement: New AC for Sydenham Area

It's my pleasure to announce that Peter Abel has been appointed as the new Area Commissioner for Sydenham Area.

Peter has been an active Scouter working directly with the youth sections for over 30 years. Starting as a Pack Scouter in Woodbridge, On. Peter has held a variety of roles from section volunteer to ADC Pack in Humber Seneca to first aid coordinator and event chair of events like DIBC, DICC, CanAm Cuboree and Genesis. Peter is currently the Rover Advisor to the 1st Delaware Medical Venturers and Rovers.

Peter met his wife Vanda at DIBC. Both of his sons earned their Chief Scout Award and he presently has five grandchildren in Beaver and Cub programs while his daughter is the group treasurer in Shelbourne, On.

Professionally, Peter is retired from Toronto EMS after a 33 year career. He currently works part time with Try Recycling and the Caradoc Housing Board.

Please join me in welcoming Peter to his new role. He will be working to build a new Service Team for Sydenham Area and if asked please help out.

At the same time, I'd like to take the opportunity to thank Ron Vander for his efforts and leadership over the past three years. Ron has truly left a strong legacy with which Peter and the Area can work for some time to come.

At your service,

Bernie Avery
